THE LINK BETWEEN VIENNA CAMMAROTA AND VENICE
The theme of the Venice Biennale of Art this year is “The milk of dreams / The milk of dreams”, name taken from a book by the surrealist artist Leonora Carrington who imagines and proposes in her stories an absolutely free world, full of infinite possibilities, far from any kind of constraint and pre-established identity, in an authentic relationship between man and environment, between body and Earth.
Just as Cammarota is at heart in Vienna who has always wanted to not only underline the importance of the artistic, cultural and social heritage of each place with his incessant journeys and walks through the world but also to remember the need to be responsible towards oneself and the Planet you live in, in an act of respect and sharing that should be renewed every day.
In addition to the Biennale, therefore, another perfect background for the Vienna enterprise is the Lazzaretto Nuovo, managed by Archeoclub D’Italia, a place and symbol of Renaissance, where the first quarantine of the Western World was born over 600 years ago. Territory abandoned in recent decades, after an impressive restoration work it has been transformed into a splendid Eco-Museum.
And there is always an exceptional reality in Venice, the Donà dalle Rose Foundation based in the Palazzo of the same name in the Cannaregio area, committed to promoting culture in Italy and abroad as well as safeguarding art and the authentic principles of patronage. . The Foundation also undertakes, through various types of activities, projects and initiatives, including international ones, in the dissemination of models for the protection and enhancement of the artistic, cultural, philosophical, historical, archival and musical heritage of our country in the first place. This year the century-old Palazzo Donà dalle Rose is also home to the Pavilion of the Republic of San Marino inspired by the theme of the “Posthuman Metamorphic” with a reflection on the theme of Man / Nature.
Considering these and factors, “Venice has turned out to be the ideal city from which Vienna can take its steps to embark on a new path by renewing the values hitherto supported and in which we identify ourselves not only as a Foundation but also as people who fully sharing of ideas, in the exchange of knowledge, in the power of beauty, in the force of nature and in the freedom that each of us should have in order to express ourselves in the most authentic way possible, without barriers or prejudices “Chiara Modìca Donà dalle Rose, President of the Foundation Donà dalle Rose.
“The Lazzaretto Nuovo, from which Vienna Cammarota will leave on Tuesday 26 April morning, was an abandoned territory but thanks to the great work of Archeoclub D’Italia – declared Rosario Santanastasio, National President of Archeoclub D’Italia – seat of Venice, the island it has been recovered and is a splendid cultural, historical, archaeological and environmental museum. The path of Vienna truly represents the great restart of Italy and is unprecedented in age but also as it is based on description, on the narration of cultural heritage. Therefore a narration of the Silk Road in the contemporary era. Vienna will make the journey with Marco Polo’s book, Il Milione, with the Flag of Italy, with the Flag of Ukraine, and it will also be a path of peace. The bond that is therefore strengthened between the Biennale and the territory is of importance. The press that will decide to be present at the departure of Vienna Cammarota, will be able to see the Lazzaretto Nuovo and therefore the historical testimonies, including the important archaeological finds of recent times “.
Vienna Cammarota, 72 years old, Ambassador of Archeoclub D’Italia, historical walker, will be the first woman in history to walk the Silk Road, starting from the Lazzaretto Nuovo in Venice and arriving in Beijing after crossing: Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia , Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Iran. In 2018, to complete the path on Goethe’s footsteps, he crossed the Belice Valley on foot, entering the Gretto di Burri where silence joins the historical context of that pain caused by the 1968 earthquake but at the same time Sicilian natural landscape. .
