Zurich Airport: No dividend for shareholders
At yesterday’s (April 21, 2022) Annual General Meeting of Flughafen Zürich AG, the shareholders approved all transactions on the agenda in accordance with the proposals of the Board of Directors. Due to the consolidated loss, no dividends will be paid out. The members of the Board of Directors standing for re-election were elected for a further year.
The focus of the 2022 Annual General Meeting of Flughafen Zürich AG was the business results for 2021 and current developments in ongoing operations. After a challenging first half of 2021 with low passenger and traffic numbers, there were signs of a recovery in the second half of the year. As a result, Flughafen Zürich AG was able to achieve a positive result in the second half of 2021 and reduce the consolidated loss to a total of CHF 10 million.
All of the agenda items were approved in accordance with the Board’s proposals, including the waiver of dividend payments in accordance with the principles of the applicable dividend policy.
Election of the Board of Directors
The members of the Board of Directors standing for re-election, Corine Mauch, Guglielmo Brentel, Josef Felder, Stephan Gemkow and Andreas Schmid (Chairman), were re-elected for a further year. The mandated representatives of the Canton of Zurich on the Board of Directors are Carmen Walker Späh, Economics Director responsible for the airport dossier, as well as Eveline Saupper and Vincent Albers. The cantonal representatives on the airport operator’s board of directors are not elected by the general assembly, but delegated by the government council of the canton of Zurich.
As communicated on March 24, 2022, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Andreas Schmid, has decided not to stand for re-election at the 2023 Annual General Meeting and to resign from the Board of Directors of Flughafen Zürich AG at that time. The designated successor is Josef Felder, a long-standing member of the Board of Directors and former CEO of Flughafen Zürich AG.
