Toulouse: construction of the new Quai Saint-Pierre senior residence
This Thursday, April 21, a symbolic stone was placed on the facade of the future residence for the elderly at Quai Saint-Pierre.
“ We are entering the physical implementation phase of our project”, announces the general manager of the real estate company COGEDIM. To symbolize this stage, the actors of the project like the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, laid a first stone marked with their name on the facade of the building. The objective is to create a new senior residence quai Saint Pierre, with 89 apartments.
A historic place to renovate
Located at the confluence of the Brienne canal and the Garonne, this residence takes place in a historic place that belonged to EDF. The work undertaken at the beginning of the year has preserved part of the building’s facade. Axel Letellier, heritage specialist, architect in charge of the project, recalls this historical dimension. “It’s about respecting the present heritage while building that of tomorrow”, he insists.
A luxury residence for seniors
Beyond the history of these premises, this senior residence is a first for COGEDIM, which is more specialized in offices or shops. Observing an aging population, its director wants to respond to this demographic challenge. “The issue of housing for seniors is essential,” he notes. For him, these homes will promote the autonomy of seniors while combining safety, comfort and well-being. The residence, which has a restaurant, also offers entertainment and physical activities. While waiting for the inauguration of the residence, the mayor of the city carried out this event by welcoming this “beautiful project” supported by the metropolis.
