The Republic of Moldova will benefit from 45.65 million euros for water supply and sewerage projects
More than 66,000 citizens of several localities in Moldova will have access to better water supply and sewerage services, thanks to a € 44.1m loan agreement and a grant from the Austrian government worth 1 ., 55 million euros. The financing and grant agreement was signed yesterday in Washington by the Minister of Finance, Dumitru Budianschi, and the country manager of the Bank in Chisinau, Inguna Dobraja.

The money is intended for the implementation of the Project “Security of water supply and sanitation in Moldova”, which includes 4 components:

Increasing access to safely managed water supply and sewerage services in selected rural areas and cities;

Strengthening institutional capacities at national and local level to ensure improved water and sewerage services;

Project management and coordination, the component will finance operational costs, consulting services, financial audit, implementation support consultants, training and workshops, etc .;

In response to emergency interventions, this component allows the Government to request the International Development Association to reclassify and source financial resources from other components of the project to cover the response to emergencies and recovery costs.
The project is to be implemented by the beginning of 2027, with part of the money being allocated to improving hygiene conditions in 100 schools and 25 health care institutions in rural areas.
