News
The Danish Minister of Defense believes that the country is one of the largest contributors to NATO’s presence in the Baltic countries.
– We are once again sending an important signal to our allies that Denmark is ready to deliver and take responsibility.
This is what Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod says in one the press release to the Danish Ministry of Defense.
On Thursday 21 April, it became known that the Danish government has put forward a resolution after NATO implemented what they call defensive, proportional and non-escalating measures.

Among other things, NATO has presented defense plans to ensure that the military commanders-in-chief have the necessary military contributions available, in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Military contributions
The resolution proposal from Denmark will present a combat battalion group with up to 1000 soldiers, where the combat battalion will be around 800 soldiers and periodically up to 200 support soldiers. These will be sent to Latvia, at the request of NATO.
It also provides an opportunity for Denmark to provide a frigate, several air military contributions and staff contributions to NATO’s international staff and headquarters.
– Thus, Denmark will be one of the largest contributors with soldiers to NATO’s presence in the Baltic countries, says Minister of Defense Morten Bødskov in the press release.
Support from the Folketing
The new contributions will support NATO’s deterrence.
– It is absolutely crucial that Denmark stands with our allies in NATO to protect our common security and safety. Therefore, I am pleased that the government today has received broad support from the Folketing to make a number of substantial military contributions available to NATO, Kofod says in the press release.
