On the evening of Wednesday April 20, a 38-year-old man committed suicide by jumping from a bridge at the level of the Lyon ring road, in Vénissieux. He was reportedly hit by a motorist as he fell. A call for witnesses was launched by the departmental directorate of public security of the Rhône.
A man killed himself on the evening of Wednesday April 20 on the Lyon ring road boulevard, near Vénissieux. According to witnesses present on the spot, the 38-year-old man jumped from the bridge on Avenue Francis de Pressensé before landing on the roadway.
“According to testimonies, the victim’s body was hit by a dark vehicle that could be a sedan, without further details”, explains the DDSP. The driver of the vehicle concerned has still not reported to the police.

suicidal tendencies
Motorists who saw the tragedy happen before their eyes quickly called the emergency services. However, the man died before they arrived at the scene. Initial findings concluded that he was an individual known to have suicidal tendencies. An investigation was opened to determine the exact causes of his death before being attributed to the Vénissieux police station, under the control of the Lyon prosecutor’s office.
