Warsaw. Songs of the Earth and Heaven performed by Olena Leonenko at MIK
On May 7 at 7.00 p.m. at the Mazowieckie Institute of Culture, a unique concert performed by the legendary Ukrainian singer Olena Leonenko, accompanied on stage by a multi-instrumentalist musician – Wojciech Lubertowicz. The original repertoire of Olena Leonenko includes old and ancient songs of Ukraine, sung in various parts of it, from the spring equinox to the older solstices. During the concert, material for Ukrainian illustrators will be held.

During the concert, a collection for Ukrainian illustrators from the Pictoric group will be held by the ARKA Foundation. Józef Wilkoń and presentation of a selection of illustrations.
Olena Leonenko (born in 1966 in Kiev, since 1990 living permanently in Poland) – Ukrainian singer, theater music composer, choreographer, actress, singing and stage movement teacher. She has composed music for over 20 theater performances, films and documentaries. She worked, among others With Gustaw Holoubek, Zbigniew Zapasiewicz, Krystian Lupa, Józef Opalski, Agnieszka Glińska, Krzysztof Warlikowski. In 2004, Gustaw Holoubek invited her to cooperate with the Ateneum Theater. Musical monodramas: Night with Wertyński, Eh once more, or a dance with the memory of the Uprising under the artistic supervision of Gustaw Holoubek and the literary supervision of Janusz Głowacki. Another musical performance – Jesienin – was directed by Józef Opalski, based on a screenplay by Janusz Głowacki. His repertoire includes over five hundred Russian, Ukrainian, Jewish and Polish folk songs. She starred in the films: In the Darkness of Agnieszka Holland, Boisko homelessnych Katarzyna Adamik, Reverse by Borys Lankosz. She was a scholarship holder of the American Institute for Democracy in Eastern Europe and a two-time scholarship holder of the Stefan Batory. Are you looking for a theater group to live? ”- with her simply the whole of Ukraine, she searched for the sources of Ukrainian culture, at the same time pagan customs and rituals, researched the technique of ritual singing and collected songs. They made up one of its later inscriptions and a unique repertoire – over 500 Ukrainian, Jewish and Russian songs from the treasury she has been collecting for many years. She has performed recitals in Poland, Paris, Berlin, Prague and Kiev. In 2005, she was awarded the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis. She is the widow of the writer Janusz Głowacki after the death in 2017.
Wojciech Lubertowicz – sound director and multi-instrumentalist. A graduate of the Department of Sound Engineering at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He specializes in playing ethnic percussion instruments (hoop drums, darbuka, tombak, cajon) and wind instruments (duduk, ney). They work on the border of styles and genres, they cooperate and collaborate with me (I exist with early music by Giardino D’more, Sabionetta, Alta), folk music (including Maria Pomianowska, Mosaic, Karolina Skrzyńska, Angela Gaber, artist (Warszawsko-Lubelska Orkiestra Dęta, Monodia Polska), or jazz and alternative (Zawartko / Piasecki, Phillip Bracken). He has made over 30 albums and concerts on four continents. Currently, as part of his doctoral studies on contemporary technique of playing the hoop drums at the Academy of Music Krzysztof Penderecki in Krakow.
