Air Dolomiti is now allowed to fly to Innsbruck Airport
Air Dolomiti, the Italian airline of the Lufthansa Group, is expanding its range of flights for the summer of 2022. From May 2, 2022, flights will be offered three times a day from Innsbruck to the air hub of Frankfurt. The flights are part of Summer 2022, which, together with the fleet expansion project, will enrich Air Dolomiti’s offer.
Innsbruck-Kranebitten Airport is about 3.5 km from the center of Innsbruck. The airport is known for its unique location: take-offs and landings are complicated because the airport is surrounded by mountains and near Alps create atypical air currents. This requires an RNP AR certification that guarantees high standards of navigation. In February, the Austrian authority granted Austrocontrol approval for use at the airport, and in recent days the airline has also received ENAC approval: Air Dolomiti has thus become the first Italian airline to receive the RNP AR certification.
“This new ENAC approval is very important and makes us proud because it confirms our strong dynamism and our will to always break new ground. We have the support and encouragement of the Lufthansa Group who, together with our enthusiasm and professionalism, look forward to the coming months of the year with optimism as we look forward to many projects: new aircraft, new routes and new stopovers,” said Steffen Harbarth, CEO of Air Dolomiti.
“Innsbruck Airport is known for its complex take-off and landing operations and its very precise navigation requirements. For these reasons, the pilots who are to be deployed at this airport must be trained and prepared to master the complexities of the maneuvers can. We are therefore particularly proud to have obtained the RNP AR certification to operate at this airport, also because it is a testament to the technical and professional preparation of our pilots,” commented Commander Roberto Belgrado, Air Dolomiti Flight Operations Manager.
