The decree validating the concession for the motorway between Toulouse and Castres is published in the Official Journal on Tuesday 19 April. The Prime Minister, Jean Castex, informed the President of the Tarn departmental councilChristophe Ramond, during the weekend.
Commissioning expected in 2025
The latter believes that “this is a new important step in the progress of a project hoped for and defended for 30 years. This infrastructure is vital for opening up the south of the Tarn. Digital, road, but also alternative mobility are essential for the development of our department. Work should begin in 2023 with commissioning of the structure in 2025.”
During a trip to the Tarn on September 25, the Prime Minister announced the name of the concessionaire for the future motorway between Toulouse and Castres: the New Generations of Entrepreneurs (NGE) group. The latter will also be in charge of the construction of the infrastructure. In a press release, the company promises that “to carry out this project declared to be of public utility in July 2018, NGE will rely on regional companies and create nearly a thousand local jobs. »
Opposition to the motorway between Toulouse and Castres
It should be remembered that the motorway project between Toulouse and Castres is met with strong opposition. A year ago, the opponents formed a human chain along the RN 126, at the location of the motorway route. The objective was to establish a “symbolic toll” on the road to Teulat.
More recently, opponents of the construction of the A69 motorway between Toulouse and Castres humorously divert the trailer for the film broadcast on Netfilx “Don’t Look Up” to challenge the leaders and once again mark their disagreement.
As a reminder, with this new infrastructure, Castre should be 45 minutes from Toulouse against 1h20 currently.
