with pretty golden thread, a creative haberdashery open in Doulon
One shop and four worlds.
Aude Durand’s creative haberdashery explores all the arts of yarn: sewing, embroidery, knitting and crochet. Librarian at Vertou, Aude Durand took the plunge before the age of fifty: I decided to make my passions my job and keep the books as a hobby
, she explains with a smile. The place is warm, colorful and overflowing with beauty: I wanted to create a friendly place where you can find everything you need to create but also where you can stop by to leaf through books and find inspiration. I have selected quality haberdashery products and favorites for fabrics that are mostly Oeko-tex labeled
.
Aude Durand also offers sewing books and pocket patterns from French brands (Deer and Doe, Cozy Little World, Atelier Scammit, les BG and Super Bison). The button section is made up of vintage pieces that Aude Durand hunts down here and there. For beginners, Aude Durand has concocted homemade boxes to take their first steps in knitting, crocheting or sewing. On the wool side, Aude Durand chose the Fonty brand one of the last French spinning mills
and Rico.
The creative haberdashery “With pretty golden thread” has been open since the beginning of December and offers a program of workshops each quarter in each area accessible to beginners: There are about two a month. In sewing, I suggest making a reversible tote bag or learning to decipher a sewing pattern
.
In the same spirit, “Entrefil” evenings are offered two Tuesdays a month: Everyone comes with their work from 7 p.m. and in exchange around a hot drink. The idea is to motivate, inspire and help each other
.
Designer products are also available, such as Toune jewellery, rings made from old buttons, Mademoiselle Poupoule comforters.
Aude Durand did not choose the name of her boutique by chance: Gold, I put it everywhere in my creations with a thread or a belt, I love it! And recall the nursery rhyme Pirouette Peanut makes a bit of a connection with my previous job
.
