Toulouse: knocked down by a scooter, Mathilde saw nothing coming
At the beginning of April, Mathilde was knocked down by a scooter behind the Capitol, in Toulouse. A shock difficult to forget for this teenager who lives in Fronton.
Her knee still hurts her. And anxieties surprise her sometimes. Mathilde, soon to be 17, was violently knocked down by a scooter in Square De Gaulle, in Toulouse on Saturday April 2. She is now looking to move on in the calm of Fronton, where she lives. “Without dramatizing, it remains difficult,” concedes his mother.
Mathilde was enjoying with a friend from Toulouse when she was hit from behind by a young man who was “driving” an electric scooter. “I didn’t see anything coming…” She found herself on the ground, her face against the pavement. With the added bonus of insults from the clumsy driver and pain everywhere.
“Forgetting takes time”
His copy recovered the driver’s phone and Mathilde found solace in a nearby pharmacy. His parents have since filed a complaint with the gendarmerie, without much hope. The number left by the driver of the scooter does not answer. And the call for witnesses broadcast in our columns yielded nothing ([email protected]). “Passersby did not realize the violence of the shock and Mathilde did not dare to alert the firefighters. In the end, she didn’t suffer from any fractures, but her knee remained fragile and psychologically, forgetting took time. »
The young woman, in no hurry to return to Toulouse, does not dream of erasing scooters from the landscape. “We cannot on the one hand appreciate the pedestrian spaces, the absence of cars in the center of Toulouse and get angry with the bicycles, scooters and other skaters, analyzes his mother. On Saturday, when there are a lot of people, it’s a bit of a fair. On two wheels, some go too fast. A guide to good practices? Why not but with what solution? Reserved spaces, corridors? The interest of these means of locomotion is also the freedom they allow. Provided that their drivers do not do anything! »
