Paludan for TV 2: – No more election meetings this week
During the weekend, there have been several violent demonstrations in Swedish cities such as Norrköping and Malmö after the Danish, controversial politician Rasmus Paludan went on an election tour for his party Stram Kurs in Sweden.
The party is against Islam, and at several of the events, the burning of the Koran has taken place. This has led to violent riots among counter-protesters, and several of them have attacked the police.
On Sunday, three people were hit by police shots. The people were later apprehended by police.
– I am in Copenhagen
On Sunday, Rasmus Paludan wrote on Facebook that he decided to cancel planned events in Linköping and Norrköping.
– The police have shown that they are completely unable to protect themselves and me, Paludan wrote on Facebook.
Well, the controversial politician confirms to TV 2 that new events in Sweden are paused for at least a week.
– I am in Copenhagen, and there will probably only be new election meetings in Sweden in one week, he says.
Confirmed in the Constitution
Press spokeswoman at the police media center in Sweden, Carina Skagerlind, tells TV 2 that they do not know that new permits have been given to Paludan.
– It’s not. And no new permission is coming today. It must be processed in the order the applications come in, and it is not something you can do quickly.
– Do you fear that there will still be more trouble after what happened this weekend?
– We can not answer that. We can not prevent anyone from meeting, it is confirmed in the constitution that it is a right people have.
