Illegal bulky waste collectors with magistrate’s jackets on the move
timeline
In the city of Salzburg, the magistrate, police and residents of a housing estate are puzzling over illegal bulky waste collectors who are out and about in official work clothing from the city administration. It is unclear where the strangers got these jackets from.
In a housing estate in the Sam district of Salzburg, men with a white delivery van are looking for objects in bulky waste that can be resold. A resident observed the strangers and chased them away. The unknown fields stand out, among other things, because of their striking clothing: they wear orange-colored robes with an official imprint of the city of Salzburg.
Magistrate: “This is a crime”
After no employees of the city administration were assigned to the area and on the move, Maximilian Tischler, director of the municipal administration, considers intervening with the police: “For us, this is a big problem, because the people also dress up as municipal services.” How the men got their official work clothes is different inexplicable to the magistrate director. “It’s no small thing, it’s a crime under our penal code,” says the annoyed magistrate Tischler.
Police: Offense of official assessment
Police spokesman Hans Wolfgruber confirmed the suspicion of a crime. “If a private person puts on a uniform and acts in an official capacity, then he commits the offense of official appropriation.” The unknown illegal bulky waste collectors face up to six months in prison or a fine.
