Embark in Monaco in James Hunt’s F1!
If you want to feel what Formula 1 champion James Hunt felt when he was racing, you couldn’t do much better than driving his single-seater! In the legendary streets of the Monaco Grand Prix moreover.
The least we can say is that the amazing story by James Hunt precedes it. This Englishman born in 1947 is mainly known for his escapades in Formula 1 as well as his fierce duels in the same discipline with another legend: Nicky Lauda. It must be said that he had quite a drive, which he proved on many occasions. The consecration of his career in the queen discipline came in 1976 when he became world champion in a McLaren!
An unconventional Formula 1
But Hunt is far from having competed only for the English manufacturer. Indeed, his arrival in Formula 1 is made in an unconventional way, even for the time. His first seat was that of a Hesketh that sported no sponsor. And for good reason, it was the property of the (very) rich Lord Hesketh who financed his team only by using his personal fortune! Practically entirely white, this car marked the history of the discipline.
As if we were there
Such a past deserves a place on the starting grid for the 2021 edition of the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, right? And to understand what the pilots must have felt at the time, what better than to get behind the wheel of their car? Not us, but Jean-Denis Delétraz who is kind enough to share this experience with us through his helmet. Take 3 minutes to enjoy the show, we highly recommend it!
