There will be flats in the Bulovka complex. The functionalist skin clinic will undergo changes
One of the buildings owned by the city, which serves as a skin clinic, is also one of the most architecturally interesting buildings. It is a functionalist building from the studio of architect Jan Rosůlek. Experts especially appreciate the interesting solution of the facade, which runs into the space, so that all rooms have plenty of sun during the day. In addition, the architect used a less common multicolored façade solution for his time.
“In the future, this could be interesting housing for mothers with children, because it is a well-organized hotel-type building,” I think Petr Hlaváček, Prague’s deputy for local development (TOP 09). It has not been decided yet, the city would like a medical or social facility in the place.
The apartments will certainly be built in the neighboring former dormitory, which has been in poor condition for a long time. The project should be completed in the next year and the first applicants could move to the new city apartments within three years. According to Jan Chabr (TOP 09), the city’s investment will reach at least two to three hundred million crowns.
“Now it’s a puzzle because no one can say how it will turn out with the price of building materials and work It can be three times as much in two years,” says Chabr.
The former boiler room, which is located across the street, will also be reconstructed. “She is empty now. We are negotiating with the City Hall of Prague 8 that a socio-cultural center could be established there, “says Chabr.
Prague now owns most of the land and part of the buildings in the Bulovka complex with a total value of 1.7 billion crowns, while the state mainly owns the buildings. The hospital has been dilapidated for years, as fragmented ownership is preventing a more comprehensive renovation of the complex. In the planned shift, Prague will leave most of the land and buildings of the state that operates the hospital.
“It simply came to our notice then. The state does not have to pay rent to the city and can invest in its own property and the development of health services. And the city will acquire other strategic state-owned assets for the area it does not operate, “said the municipality.
In return, Prague will get the extensive premises of the Karlín barracks, which have been dilapidating for years, to become a popular meeting place in the summer. “We imagine that we will use this unique building primarily for student housing while preserving the socio-cultural functions that have proven themselves in recent years,” says Hlaváček. “I would like to see a refuge here, for example, city-sponsored non-profit innovative companies and startups,” he adds. However, a change in the zoning plan will be necessary, because, as Hlaváček said, according to the current plan, a missile base could easily stand on the military site.
In addition, Prague should acquire a complex in Bohdalec suitable for the construction of city flats, land near the graphic school in Hellichova street in Malá Strana, plots next to the Eden primary school, land in Záběhlice for school construction and the former Ministry of the Interior building, which should according to Chabr, expand the Hybern Campus.
