Slower than 30 years ago. The running time of trains between Prague and Brno will be extended again from Saturday
The restrictions will last until the end of August, trains will have to leave Prague sooner, the journey time will be extended to 3 hours and 26 minutes for express trains.
Passengers by train between Prague and Brno are expecting a change in the timetable from 23 April, which will bring an extension of travel times for most Czech Railways connections and, on the contrary, a shortening for RegioJet.
This follows from the timetable on the Czech Railways website and the RegioJet reservation system. On pages Railway administrationswhich extended travel times useful construction work on the corridor, not yet changed a word.
New Czech Railways timetable envisages an extension of journey times for all long-distance trains. Both for the Ex3 line (Vindobona to Vienna + Metropolitan to Bratislava and Budapest) and the R9 express line.
New Ex3 trains from Prague will always leave at: 53 or: 56, in Brno they will be at: 18. So far, he always leaves at: 12 and arrives in Brno: 20. The driving time is thus extended from 3 hours and 8 minutes to 3 hours 22-26 minutes. In the direction from Brno, the driving time should be the same as before, 3 hours and 6 minutes.
The changes will also affect the R9 Vysočina express trains. The departure time from Prague will remain the same for them, but in Brno they will not end at the main railway station, but at the lower one. They won’t go to the main one at all. They will return from the lower station earlier. They will make an extraordinary stop in Pečky.
Czech Railways stated on its website that the extension of travel times is an exclusion of the section in Pečky – Velim. In the period from May 22 to July 19, some trains will also run by diversion through Nymburk.
On the other hand, travel times will be shortened on some RegioJet connections between Prague and Brno. So far, they have to run slower than Czech Railways trains. Now their trains run either 3 hours 8 minutes, 3 hours 23 minutes or 3 hours 26 minutes in the direction from Prague to Brno, depending on the time of day. Newly, they will run all 3 hours and 8 minutes.
Due to exclusions on the route through Česká Třebová, long-distance trains from Prague to Brno have been running through the Vysočina region since last spring. According to historical timetables, despite the modernization of some sections between Havlíčkův Brod and Brno, trains run slower than in the past. For example, in schedule 1988/89 traveled express Pannonia from Prague to Brno with a stop in Havlíčkův Brod 3 hours and 24 minutes. The express train of the same name managed the journey from Prague to Brno in the 2002/3 timetable in 3 hours and 16 minutes.
