Weil/Berlin (dpa/bb) – The TTC Berlin Eastside made the basis for entering the final of the German women’s table tennis championship with great difficulty. On Saturday, the team from the capital won the first match of the playoff semi-finals at ESV Weil from South Baden in the end with 6:2, but probably had a hard time doing so. With this success, the defending champions are the big favorites going into the second leg on Monday in the Anton-Saefkow-Sporthalle (1 p.m.).
Eastside went to the plate against Weil almost at their best, but had to fight for wins in doubles and had to give up three of the nine sets. The problems in Berlin continued in the first individual round. The last strong Nina Mittelham lost 0:3 against Izabela Lupulescu. Britt Eerland, this time number 2 at Eastside instead of Xiaona Shan, had to concede the 3-2 win to Polina Trifonova despite a 2-1 lead.
TSV Langstadt, who won 6:4 at DJK Kolbermoor on Saturday and is now home on Easter Monday, is a potential final opponent in the fight for the desired title after the semifinals. In the semi-finals of the national cup, Eastside lost 3-2 to Langstadt.
