Miguel Correia makes his debut to win in the Portuguese Rally Championship

Miguel Correia and Jorge Carvalho, with an ARC Sport Skoda Fabia, won or Rally Terras D’Aboboreira, the third event of the Portuguese Rally Championship, in which they celebrated their first triumph.
It was an exciting race, as the pilot from Braga entered the stage, Aboboreira 2, with a 1.6 second advantage over Armindo Araújo, leader of the championship. He was the youngest person to come out on top in the final sprint, winning the 16km stage by 0.4 seconds ahead of the other Skoda.
Armindo Araújo, by the way, had his sixth appointment in the morning, after Josh McErlean had overturned and withdrew, but a puncture in the 15.14 km of the stage, Amarante, cost him a delay of 24.6, which he recovered until he place near Correia at the entrance of the “power stage”.
In the third finished Bruno Magalhães, position with his Hyundai i20 came to lead and ended up being 11.2 seconds from the winner.
The fourth place went to José Pedro Fontes’ Citroën C3, 54.5 seconds behind Correia, and Pedro Almeida finished fifth, with another Skoda, 55.8s away.
“I’m going to spend a few days digesting this. I am, but the victory is the result of a lot of work. I thank the family and the sponsors”, said an emotional Miguel Correia, a 30-year-old driver who happily debuted in 2018 in the Portuguese Rally Championship.
