LUXEMBOURG – Between Friday evening and early Saturday night, the police had to intervene for several accidents… some without a driver on site.
Friday evening and the night that followed were rough on the country’s roads. The police were even used for two unrelated accidents with a similar scenario. Around 9:30 p.m., on Kennedy Boulevard in Bascharage, a motorist hit a traffic sign before fleeing. He finally surrendered to the police soon after and was even recognized as drunk. His license was revoked.
Later, a little before 3 a.m., an “unexplained” accident was reported on the N7, in Hobscheid. A vehicle was damaged but the driver was only found later by the police, slightly injured. Again, the man was drunk and he was even the subject of a driving ban.
In the list of accidents reported by the police on Saturday morning, there is also a loss of control in a bend in Erpeldange-sur-Sûre, on the access ramp to the B7 towards Ettelbruck, Friday at 6:30 p.m. A car then hit two road signs, a street light and a guardrail. This time its driver did not flee and was taken care of on the spot, slightly injured.
