Eleven driving licenses withdrawn at vodca control in Antwerp (Antwerp)
Eleven driving licenses were withdrawn during vodca checks on Oudeleeuwenrui and Kattendijkdok-Oostkaai in Antwerp on Friday night. A driver drove around with the liquor bottles between his legs.
The traffic police pulled over 406 drivers at Kattendijkdok-Oostkaai. “Four of them blew ‘alarm’, they were put aside for three hours”, says police spokesman Willem Migom. “Two others looked at the glass that was immediately withdrawn for 15 days.” That was also the verdict for two drivers who were under the influence of drugs.
Two other drivers banned from driving without worrying about walking, their cars were towed.
At the Oudeleeuwenrui, another 162 were checked in a controlled manner. “As many as five of them under the influence of drugs,” said the police. “Nine others blew positive for alcohol, two of them immediately imposed a 15-day driving ban.” During the check, a motorist was found to be driving around with bottles of spirits between his legs, he blew positive and a positive saliva test. The driver of a step also blew positive, the Dutchman also had a ‘passenger’ on his step. “He had to pay a fine of 179 euros on the spot and had to continue on foot,” says Migom.
During the check, the police also fined two moped riders who drove around without helmets, a cyclist who was using his mobile phone and a driver who had a child in the car without a seat belt.
