The city district of Prague 10 will provide a subsidy to organizations that provide a support network for children and youth. One of them is the House of Children and Youth Ulita, the other the YMCA, the oldest youth organization in the world. Together, both partner projects will receive 3.2 million crowns.
Decima helps young people in an unfavorable situation
The YMCA has been operating the low-threshold club Decima in Prague 10 since last year. The center in Vršovice offers a refuge for children and youth from 6 to 19 years. It is aimed at young people who are in an unfavorable social situation, whether due to a dysfunctional family, bullying or poor relationships with peers or, for example, unsuccessful in education.
The club operates on an outpatient and field basis. Younger children come to the club in person, have the opportunity to spend their free time, also catch up on school or consult with the staff about the future. Older people have the opportunity to use the same services, but in field form.
The low-threshold club in Prague 10 has been missing for a long time
“The low-threshold club at the Ten has been missing for a long time! I consider the fact that it managed to be built and put into operation a great success and a small miracle. The services provided by Ymca in Prague 10 were historically lacking. The field project is looking for young people in parks and at the train station
The second fax project is the Streetwork Beztíže field program, which has been operating in Prague 10 since 2012. It is operated by the House of Children and Youth Prague 3 – Ulita. Its staff meets children on the streets, in clubs and at the train station, in short, wherever it is natural for young people. He solves unfavorable social situations with them, but also everyday problems. At the same time, he accompanies them to some institutions, such as authorities, courts or youth curators. Streetwork Prague 10 will support 700 thousand crowns.
“The shell is building a support and prevention network for children and youth. It operates across our city district, especially in places where there is a higher concentration of the target group. These are mainly transport hubs, parks, hostels, playgrounds, the Eden shopping center. The organization also organizes stays outside Prague, during which clients from among young people get to know themselves and improve their social skills. ” said Kochi.
