Opt for carpooling to go to Monaco and enjoy a refund
To relieve congestion on the Principality’s roads, the government has joined forces with the Klaxit carpooling platform. Commuters from Monaco can benefit from reimbursed journeys, and now benefit from new advantages.
Monaco’s ambitions are clear. By 2050, our neighbors are aiming for carbon neutrality. To achieve this, a 20% reduction in road traffic is needed by 2030.
In September 2020, the government therefore entered into a partnership with the carpooling application Klaxit to reimburse part of the journeys made by Monegasque workers who travel to the Principality every day.
Each driver earns three euros per passenger while the latter receive a total subsidy.
In 20 months, 4,000 trips have been made, thus avoiding the release of around 70 tonnes of CO2. Nearly 2,300 people have registered on the application.
To encourage shared journeys a little more, Klaxit now offers new “rewards”. Drivers making their first trip with the platform benefit from a 20 euro gift card.
A redesigned sponsorship offer has also been launched with 10 euros for the sponsor and 25 euros for the godchild.
Today, 27 Monegasque companies are partners in this initiative and “a dozen others have joined the adventure”.
