Will Slavia Prague repeat its greatest historical successes in European leagues? Fans received an answer to this question on Thursday after the quarterfinals of the European Conference League quarter-final against Feyenoord Rotterdam. Thanks to Traorý’s goal from the last minute of setting during the first match in the Netherlands, coach Trpišovský’s charges had a great chance to break the record of the only European championship ever.
And as fans are used to, the match started at a tremendous pace. After a mistake, Slavia played with Dessers’ goal from the 2nd minute, but he was able to find Traoré’s answer in 12 minutes. However, the match was full of mistakes, which were not avoided by the goalkeeper Mandous, who allowed Dessers to score for the second time in the 59th minute. Sinisterra added a third goal in the 78th minute while playing at risk, which caused Slavia not to look into the six EKLs.
Slavia Prague stood at the gate of historical success before the retaliation of the quarterfinals of the European Conference League on Thursday. No matter how we look at the previous quarterfinals of the European League in recent years (with Chelsea and Arsenal), the greatest chance to repeat the international milestone, the seeds of the European Cup, was now. She did not have a more balanced opponent than Feyenoord Rotterdam in this elimination phase for a long time, so the motivation was clear.
He said it for himself last match. The team of staples tested by injuries managed to roll a promising 3: 3 draw on the hot ground of the De Kuip stadium thanks to Ibrahim Traorý’s goal in the last minute of the setting. A similarly attractive and wild race, which brought with it controversial moments and a lot of goals, was therefore not an unexpected option in the industry in Eden. However, a compact team is needed for quality play. Unfortunately, Slavia did not manage to avoid injury even in the first match.
Tomáš Holeš, one of the architects of success and the most interesting player in the field, was injured. Unfortunately, even the latest acquisition was not on it, the express Yira Sor, who started. Luckily, the return of the conquered Aiham Ousou was also well, so Jindřich Trpišovský was able to make some changes in other positions.
In addition to the return of the stopper duo Ousou – Kacharaba, Holeš’s empty space was blocked by the hero Traorem, and the center of the reserve was filled by the agile Lingr. The attack, which also featured Olayinka, Schranz and the Bah and Dorley wingers, remained in place. Aleš Mandous replaced the mistaken Kolář in the goal.
Feyenoord’s lineup also remained unchanged – in the classic 4-3-3 formation, Linssen Dessers replaced the middle forward and Toornstra was changed to Tila.
At the rate
Three times and enough, she wanted to say at the beginning of Slavia, which was driven by the full galleries of Eden, and in the first minute, unlike the last encounters with the Rotterdam opponent, she tried to get under pressure. She also had her first shot when Sor ended dangerously after the action. However, the opponent took the lead from the retaliatory action – the defenses of the home team failed in the back and Dessers adjusted the score to 0: 1 for the guests in the 2nd minute. However, the hectic mood remained ubiquitous even after the goal was scored and the pace did not fall from the home team.
Slavia created pressure mainly thanks to the precise shooting centers, of which Dorley finished the most dangerous in the 10th minute. The home team managed to lock Feyenoord in its middle and managed to find a way to the shot. Which turned out to be the right move, because within four minutes, their efforts bore fruit. Ibrahim caught Kokcu’s bad “little home”, both Marcian, and returned the score to a comparable stand. Another huge Feyenoord mistake came in the 25th minute, but Olayinka did not beat Marcian again.
During the fast and very powerful first half, the fans saw a lot of fights, but the match took place in fair play. In the end, the fans saw a great chance in the 44th minute, when Dessers relaxed again and went alone. Mandous must have defeated that. Nelson leaned in again from the next corner, but despised Feyenoord’s lead.
Match of mistakes
The second half started a little embarrassing from the home team’s point of view, from which Feyenoord benefited mainly from holding the ball. The pace also slowed as injuries bit the game. However, in the 52nd minute, Slavia got to a corner from the corner, when Marciano had to intervene. Slavia, however, met another huge mistake in the 59th minute – the goalkeeper Mandous met with thoughts and kicked him in the standing leg, which Dessers used again.
The staplers had no choice but to catch the score. In the 71st minute, he tried to endanger Marcian Talovierov, who missed. The home team then took a risk during the rotation, leaving only three defenders behind, and this did not pay off for them relatively quickly. In the 78th minute, Sinisterra increased the lead to 1: 3. Three minutes later, Dessers attacked the hat-trick, but was caught by Mandous. The Vršovice people tried to put pressure in the last 10 minutes, but that was not the case – both combinations and forces were failing.
Even the third attempt at the semifinals of the European competition failed the players from Eden. Neither Kačaraba’s shot nor Olayinka’s head found Marcian’s goal net at the end of the match, so Slavia said goodbye to the European Conference League by losing to Feyenoord Rotterdam 1: 3. The opponent will face Marseille in the season.
