Nový Kaufland Praha-Křeslice Čestlice – Vitalia.cz
On Wednesday of this week, a new branch of Kaufland, belonging to the German Schwarz Group, was opened in Čestlice. The birth of the supermarket was not completely smooth.
Kaufland was not welcomed by some locals
“In the beginning, we dealt with the building permits we had, then they didn’t. When we overcame these labor pains, we started construction in August 2021, we slept forty-two times and we were done, “ describes in brief the construction of the 139th Czech branch of Kaufland František Hucl from the construction department.
However, the building permit issued and subsequently withdrawn was not the only thing that complicated the implementation. The new Kaufland grew up on the three boundaries of the cadastres of Průhonice, Čestlice and Praha-Křeslice in one of the largest commercial zones in Prague and its surroundings with an area of about one hundred hectares, close to four other food supermarkets or hypermarkets. And precisely because other shops within the business zone also offer similar services, some civic associations from the affected cadastres considered this construction to be “objectively unnecessary”.
The thorn in their side was the fact that the new Kaufland was heading in close proximity to the 80-hectare Dendrological Garden, habitat and natural wetland. They wrote a petition and the situation against the construction described on Czech Television.
However, Kaufland stands today. And as he claims, he tries not to be for the natural burden, especially the technologies he uses in it. The store with a sales area of over three thousand two hundred meters has, for example, a recuperation device that uses waste heat from refrigeration equipment for heating, so it does not need boilers or district heating. The store has LED lighting and has a charging station for electric cars in the parking lot.

You won’t get lost in the new Kaufland, and if you do, look for a red pillar
Nový Kaufland in Čestlice is a two-storey store that has parking spaces both next to the store and under it. As in Kaufland in Prague-Hloubětín or Palmovka, for example, you can get to the store here with the help of moving sidewalks, so-called travelators. In addition to the food area, there are places for a pharmacy, tobacco or fast food in front of the cash registers.
The store itself looks airy and thanks to LED lighting and color distribution according to the assortment, you will find your way around on the spot. And when you can’t find what you’re looking for, you’re looking for a store map in a so-called customer terminal. The store is placed on red poles that are visible from across the store.
The customer terminal is actually a larger tablet that has several features. In addition to a map with the layout of the range of customers, it allows you to find out both the price and the exact composition of the product. You scan it into the terminal using a barcode on the product. You can also view the current leaflet in the terminal.
Regional foods have their boxes
A pleasant attraction is a wide range of regional foods. This is not a special department where you can find everything in one place. But in individual sections of the store, these foods have their place, their own box or display case.
For example, in the beer section you will find chilled local beer Hostivar from the nearby brewery in Hostivař, next to the cheese there is a cold box with supplies from Farm Zahrádka ze Sedlčany, from Central Bohemian dairy Bio Vavřinec or East Bohemian Mlékárna Ohaře.
There are also scanners
While scanners are not available in all Kaufland countries (in some types of shops you can only shop via a scanner in the mobile phone application), in these new ones, and therefore also in the honest one, they are a matter of course.
The goods can then be paid for at one of the three K-Scan cash registers or six self-service cash registers. For customers with disabilities, two reduced checkouts are prepared for more accessible check-in.
