War in Ukraine: Liechtenstein spreads list of people
Principality of Liechtenstein
Vaduz (ots)
On Monday, April 11, 2022, the government decided to amend the regulation on measures related to the situation in Ukraine. As part of the adjustment, the restrictive measures decided by the EU on April 8 against an additional 216 people and 18 organizations were independently implemented. The government is thus consistently continuing its previous policy.
The newly listed people are members of legislative and governmental bodies of the separatist-controlled so-called “Donetsk People’s Republic” and so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic”, as well as people with economic or political ties to the Russian government. The financial and travel restrictions are aimed, among other things, at a minor Russian President Vladimir Putin. The organizations newly affected by the sanctions are companies from the armaments, aviation, shipbuilding and mechanical engineering sectors. With the adjustment decided today, Liechtenstein has implemented these sanctions autonomously.
On the same day, the EU also passed additional financial, commodity and trade sanctions. The financial sanctions are to be implemented. Due to the customs treaty with Switzerland, Liechtenstein goods and trade sanctions can only be understood after they have been adopted by Switzerland.
The implementation of the sanctions confirms that the blatant violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is unacceptable.
