“Assistance of approximately $ 267 million has been requested to help Moldova cope with the impact of the war in Ukraine and rising international energy and food prices,” the International Monetary Fund said.
The total value of the financial program for the Republic of Moldova, initially approved in December 2021, thus reached 815 million dollars.
“The war in Ukraine had major consequences for the economy of the Republic of Moldova,” said Ruben Atoyan, head of the IMF delegation that paid a visit to Chisinau on April 4-11.
Financial assistance, provided in exchange for economic reforms, is provided through the Instrument for Extended Credit (CEF) and the Extended Credit Facility (MEDC). The IMF’s Board of Directors is due to approve the final program for the Republic of Moldova in May.
