Crime in Prague 2 m long-term declining trend
Prague (April 12, 2022) Security is one of the priorities of the current town hall. That is why the councilor of Prague 2, at its last meeting, got acquainted with the balance sheet of the Police of the Czech Republic, which assessed the security situation in the second city. The international comparison shows that, despite the gradual anti-epidemic measures and re-increasing the free movement of people in public crime, in a kind of city declining tendencies.
According to the first report submitted by the councilor of the Prague II District Police, a total of 2,587 criminal records were registered on the ground in Prague 2 in 2021, which is 369 criminal penalties compared to 2020. A total of 620 reported criminal cases were reported to the police last year, a percentage of 23.96%. A number of criminals and police officers recorded robberies and purses, and a sharp decline in all cases of vehicles and burglaries. On the contrary, the police record an increase in the crime of motor vehicles and thus in the area of moral, violent and drug crime. In these areas, the police have a lot to do and the City Hall of Prague 2 is ready to provide maximum support to the police.
We have long supported policies. Let’s help them manage their housing situation, we regularly contribute to their better equipment and take care of better working conditions. We are currently completing the reconstruction of the premises directly on Charles Bridge, where the police officers will receive quality land for their work. I believe that the new land will be a benefit for the whole of Prague 2 and especially for the local population. The town hall closely monitors the security situation and evaluates its development at regular meetings with police officers and parties. Thanks to the time of communication, you can solve local problems and take appropriate action. As part of the security policy, the town hall then tries to eliminate security risks as much as possible. One of the last such steps was the opinion of the city council on the change of the capital city of Prague to build a contact center for users of habitats near Ranova.
The city also pays great attention to crime prevention, and this year will be no different. The town hall continues to cooperate with the Blm circle of safety, the Bezte club and a number of non-profit organizations. It supports preventive programs, leisure activities and billions, under education, for the most vulnerable groups.
