Reading time: approx. 2 minutes
The Memminger Indians are undefeated in the semifinals of the Oberliga playoffs. After the sweep against the Herne Miners, the Dutch representative from Tilburg was also defeated 3-0 games. Now the red-whites also have an Indian duel against EC Hannover.
After the two main round firsts from Weiden and Halle were canceled, the Memmingers are now the top seeded team in the current play-offs. This means at least one more home round for ECDC. As early as next Tuesday, coach Waßmiller’s team will be fighting for a place in the final, and every two days they will fight for a place in the final in a maximum of five games. Game two will follow on Thursday in Hanover, the third meeting will take place on Easter Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Hühnerberg.
The opponent from Lower Saxony finished the main round in fourth place in the Oberliga Nord. In the first round, Mann knocked out Deggendorf 3:2, before the 3:1 against the Süd-Primus from Weiden followed. The Hanoverians had to go into overtime several times, unforgettable the longest game of the play-offs, when Deggendorf was only won after almost 130 minutes. The blue and red Indians will definitely not lack stamina and fighting power when they compete against the Maustadt team from Tuesday. Key players of the traditional club from Hanover are without a doubt veteran and captain Branislav Pohanka as well as the contingent players Parker Bowles and Kyle Gibbons. Igor Bacek or Joe Kiss can also choose games. So far, however, the only 20-year-old goalkeeper David Miserotti-Böttcher has caused the most furore, who became the match winner several times in the playoffs.
The club and its predecessor clubs, which have a long history, have a large fan base and were represented at a higher level for several years. In all games with the appropriate support, the supporters can be expected in part.
But the people of Memmingen can also rely on their fans. On Tuesday, a top backdrop can be expected again on the Hühnerberg. The best conditions for a big ice hockey festival in Mausstadt. Meanwhile, the squad of the Indians is changing a bit again. Viewers can count on Jaro Hafenrichter as well as long-term injured Marc Hofmann, who WILL return to the line-up. After a protracted injury, his season seemed over, and now he’s celebrating his comeback in time for the semi-finals.
Tickets for the first meeting between the two teams are still available online in advance. If tickets are still available, the box office will also be open on the day of the match. Tickets for Game 3 (Saturday, 6 p.m.) go on sale after the first game.
