Deer presented a new, richer sound at the O2 Universe

Two years ago, she was known as an unofficial member of the group Jelen, now a confident and mature singer with her own strong repertoire. Whoever knows Kateřina Maria Tichá only from joint concerts only had to stare how the adult now works on stage. From the EP “Otazníky” to the first album “Sami” he made a big piece of music, so even though she spent only about forty minutes with the audience as a frontman, it was a great warm-up. During the eight songs, she managed to change several moods. With “Pravný polednou” she transferred the audience to a spirited village dancer, with the single “Zničená zem” she moved again. Bandjeez, who now play with the performer, provided a rich sound and, together with “Enchant” by David Stypka, conjured up a beautifully optimistic atmosphere. And as the hitherto unpublished novelty “Nový dům” with rough guitar riffs and goosebumps “haaaa”we definitely have something to look forward to!

At nine o’clock, ie according to the schedule, they started the Jeleni stage. They detonated their set with an energetic bomb, which also gave them its name. From “Jelena” they moved without a break to “Somewhere Around”, a ballad that opens their latest latest. The written connection of these two pieces may surprise, but it worked. Right from the start, the musicians did a great job with the audience, as “Next time you come” showed, when the end of the seven-member formation occupied the stage to sing the chorus a cappella with the audience – and they joined very willingly. Unfortunately, the latest songs were among the weaker moments. Even though the spice “Veronica” by the ukulele, or the single “The Only What” sounded better than on the album, they didn’t fit in well among the older pieces. With their third line-up, the band set itself the goal of changing their sound, which was possible, for example, with the additional “White Keyboard” or the duet “Nebreč, Sáro”, which the newest member Vít Polák enriched with his drumming. It is very good that the mentioned duet, to which Káťa returned to the stage, had the opportunity to shine as one of the treasures of the record. Perhaps “Mater Mors” will get his chance in the future.

Singer from the joint song “What was next?” The deer did not leave, so they had the opportunity to return to their Celtic roots with “Solstice”, as frontman Jindra Polák jokingly remarked. The second half of the concert picked up pace, and when “Light in the Dark” came up at the end, the audience reached a boiling point. The musicians were excited about the live performance, herd commander even so, he humbly thanked the audience several times. He also thanked Michal Tučný upstairs with the cover “Sleeping in the Grain” – his formation is also based on his work. The very first released song “Tančíme spolu” was also heard, but despite its energy, it would deserve at least a little rest after years. Overall, it was a pleasant evening, culminating in an emotional ballad dedicated to the late David Stypek “Rozlučková”. The changed direction the group went with brought pros and cons. So they will see that it can eradicate in the future. If he embarks on it with his famous deer energy, he has already won half!
