Pro-Russian demo expected in Frankfurt – FFH.de
Under stricter conditions, a pro-Russian demonstration is to take place in Frankfurt this Sunday from 1 p.m. According to the city, up to 2,000 participants are expected.
The demonstration was registered under the motto “Against hate speech and discrimination against Russian-speaking fellow citizens/Against war – For peace”. An originally registered motorcade with 700 vehicles may not take place according to the city’s decision. The start of the demonstration should take place on the Opernplatz.
Also forbidden war symbols and badges
In view of the war in Ukraine, the city has banned the wearing of certain symbols – such as badges with the letters V and Z and the “St George’s ribbon”. These stand for Russian wartime activities in Ukraine. It was forbidden to endorse Russian aggression in words and pictures and to denigrate the state of Ukraine, its people and the victims of the Russian invasion.
Large contingent of police in action
The police want to “closely follow” the demonstration and suspect violations of the conditions, announced the Frankfurt Presidium. Several groups have called for counter-demonstrations.
