Artist Hayden Kays is considered one of the most provocative artists of his generation. The proof of this can be seen from today (Saturday) in Kalkman Antwerp in Sint-Jorispoort 28, where he will exhibit his works with his exhibition ‘Because of Love’ until May 8th.
“Last year his work Fact was given an important place in the Moco Museum in Barcelona”, says Charlotte Kalkman, manager of Kalkman Antwerp. “With that work, Kays poses a critical question to the public regarding sexuality. His artwork of two by two meters hangs between big names such as Andy Warhol, Basquiat, Salvador Dalí and Keith Haring.”
Kalkman Antwerp is not only an art gallery, but also a record store. The store opened late last year. “My brother Hubert opened Kalkman Maastricht in 2014,” says Charlotte. “And we notice there that collectors of vinyl records and art match very well. That’s why we combine both. Every month we try to organize a new art exhibition, but we also organize extra activities to put the vinyl records in the spotlight.”
