Hannover 96: Hendrik Weydandt meets again! No place for Linton Maina – Bundesliga 2
Hannover 96 finally celebrated a win again. And finally Hendrik Weydandt (26) has finished his peat flute. The fans choose the former fairy tale striker after the 3-1 win in Aue as “player of the game”.
Weydandt takes off!
In the 23rd minute, Sebastian Stolze chipped the ball into Henne’s path. Aue keeper Martin Männel still fends off his first shot, the striker sinks the follow-up shot while falling. After a short VAR check it is clear: no offside, 2-0.
It is Henne’s second goal of the season – and the first goal in eight months. “Enormously important for me,” he said happily: “It’s been a long time now that I haven’t scored.”
You can see the relief when he celebrates the goal. Coach Christoph Dabrowski: “A load fell off his shoulders, you could see that. I hope it will give him a boost. I was very happy for him.”
In the bet on the 96 future, Weydandt extends his lead over the zero-goal attacker Lukas Hinterseer. Hinterseer wasn’t even in the squad for the second time in a row.
Weydandt takes off, Linton Maina stays put!
Winger Maina sits on the bench for 90 minutes despite recovering from the flu. What was the matter, didn’t it fit the gameplay? “Exactly,” said coach Dabrowski on Sunday after the training of the reservists for Maina and Hinterseer.
Bitter for Maina, who flourished in the first few weeks under foster father Dabrowski and brought 96 nine points with his three winning goals against HSV (1-0), Ingolstadt (2-1) and Rostock (1-0).
After poor performances, he faces a bench-warming role in his final 96 weeks. His contract ends at the end of the season, the farewell is a done deal. Maina plays in the Bundesliga, Augsburg is hot for him.
