Toulouse: Serial fuel siphoning in the Chapter area
Six people were arrested overnight from Thursday to Friday for having siphoned tanks from trucks.
Soaring fuel prices create vocations among Toulouse delinquents. Six people were arrested overnight from Thursday to Friday for having siphoned tanks. A first team was caught red-handed by police officers from the Left Bank BAC, Chapter area, near the Mirail district.
Two men, equipped with a garden hose, were working on the tanks of a company’s trucks. At the time of their arrest, these boys aged 19 and 20, already described as known to justice, had already siphoned off around forty liters of fuel. They were remanded in custody.
Half an hour later, still in the area of the Chapter, the Left Bank BAC, again, found the attitude of four individuals very suspicious. Their vehicle was parked very close to the fence of a company. Seeing the police, the quartet left the scene hastily but were quickly caught. On the spot, the officials found that the fence of the company had been cut. They found cans as well as garden hoses resulting from perhaps doubt as to their intention to siphon off the trucks, especially since the tanks of several heavy goods vehicles had been degraded.
Already described known to justice, these four boys aged 17, 22 and 29 were taken to the police station to explain themselves. Since the surge in fuel prices, siphoning cases have multiplied in the department. The police and gendarmerie forces are very attentive to this phenomenon.
