X insider: space, aeronautics and rugby tech in Toulouse
Founder and CEO of the newstech ETX Studio, Jerome Doncieux has decided to go back to school on the benches of the Executive Master of the Ecole Polytechnique, the X for friends 🙂
Exclusively for FrenchWeb, he will regularly tell us behind the scenes of this 14-month adventure in the most prestigious French scientific school. This month, “aero & rugby tech” week in Toulouse.
Let’s say it right away: I’m from Toulouse, slightly chauvinistic and therefore absolutely not objective about this “aero & rugby tech” week spent in the Pink City!
Let’s go even further: I found the level of interventions on aperitif-tech, absolutely remarkable. Whether it’s drones. Space. Aviation of the future. Everything was remarkable thanks to the teams of SUPAERO, the crème de la crème of aeronautical schools in the world.
However, I’m not going to talk to you in detail, because what I loved the most took place in a stadium, in a locker room, even. And not just any: that of Ernest-Wallon, the lair of Stade Toulousain, legendary red and black club, reigning European and French champion, in which we had the honor and happiness of be received by Didier Lacroix, president and former legendary player of the Stadium.
Mix of management, technology and innovation
Sitting for two hours in the first team locker room with Didier Lacroix, explaining to our promo from X the mix of management, technology and innovation, was indeed wonderful.
Wonderful as this club is steeped in values, ambitions and results.
Wonderful as its president, who was a great player of exceptional courage, putting his head where no one would have set foot. Charismatic, visionary and very intelligent, sometimes a “nutbreaker” by his own admission, Didier is an immense club president, especially since he received us at a difficult time for the Stadium, beaten seven times at the course of the last eight matches… It is true, without 9 internationals retained in the France team, whose backbone is .
Wonderful to know that all the staff and players, pros and hopefuls alike, meet each morning in front of a buffet that they share with patients in remission from cancer.
Wonderful to know that the DNA of the club manifests itself as soon as you enter the parking lot. The last player to arrive, even international, parks at the bottom of it. The old ones, in front. And prohibition to all to use their telephone until the cloakroom. Raison ? Be available to greet fans or club staff they encounter each morning.
Willingness for permanent innovation in data
Wonderful desire for permanent innovation in data, from the development of new solutions to the benchmark of the biggest American basketball clubs or German football clubs.
Wonderful love of the club’s history, whose track record figures prominently in the training room. A plaque brings together the names of all the players who have had the honor of wearing the red and black tunic more than 100 times. All the leaders are elders of this brotherhood of Toulouse warriors, what am I saying, oval ball artists.
It would have been wonderful to attend the qualification of PSG for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, while having dinner at the Brasserie du Stade… You can imagine the sacrilege of seeing a football match there!
On the other hand, it will be marvelous to go to the cinema to discover the film which was won at the Stadium, thus illustrating the leadership and the strength of the DNA of this club of which the city is so proud and which reminds me of the words of the song “Toulouse”, by the late Claude Nougaro: “Here, if you knock, you win, here, even the grannies like the fight”.
Above all, it will be wonderful to see an “Exec Master | X 2021” on the now famous “fan wall”, with the names of my classmates who were all won over by Didier Lacroix, when few knew the oval ball. Tribute moreover to Bruno, author of an unforgettable letter to the leaders of the club.
For all this, a huge thank you to Didier Lacroix as well as to my brother, Marc Doncieux, member of the club’s management board and great Toulouse entrepreneur, for the privilege offered to this other prestigious institution that is X through his Executive Master 2021. Thanks also to “La DĂ©pĂŞche du Midi” for having immortalized this great moment in its columns. CĂ©cile Chamaret, program director and professor at l’X, and Didier Lacroix have agreed that future promotions will come back, and will thus remember their “aero & rugby tech” week for a long time…
Tou-lou-sane!
