VIDEO: A woman ran red onto the road, where she was hit by a van driver
The accident happened on the morning of March 31 in Prague’s Holešovice on Orten Square, where a van collided with a pedestrian. The police officers were the first to arrive.
“Immediately upon their return, the police pulled out a ‘medic backpack’ in the car and began treating a woman who was sitting on the sidewalk and was visibly injured,” said police spokeswoman Violeta Siřišťová. The injuries were witnessed by accidents and van drivers who covered her sweatshirt with a bleeding wound on her head.
Police checked the woman’s vital signs when she told them she was losing consciousness. “We have found that the most serious injury is to the head. We covered the wound with a sterile bandage. Then we laid her on her back and performed a general inspection to find out all the injuries, “said Jan Jirgl, head of the police, about the incident. Eventually, they fixed the woman’s pelvis and covered it with thermofoil.
Firefighters came to help the police, who provided them with a neck brace and secured the car accident. Subsequently, the 33-year-old woman was taken into the care of paramedics and taken to the hospital.
According to Jirgl, interventions in which police officers provide first aid are the order of the day. “Police patrols operate 24 hours a day, so they are often on site before paramedics or firefighters,” he told iDNES.cz.
Police investigated the traffic accident and found out that the driver had run unexpectedly across the pedestrian crossing, which did not respect the red “stop” signal. “A driver who was no longer able to do this and could not react, and this led to a frontal collision of vehicles with a pedestrian,” the spokesman described.
Police released a video of the car accident for preventive reasons to take part in road traffic, which is also pedestrians, noting that they are once wrong, they can have fatal consequences.
