Eight panels explain the details of the major expansion of the capital. The authors chose a section of the period between the two world wars, because it was then that the capital was commonly called the time phrase Greater Prague.

“Municipalities and city districts at the time had virtually no power, decision-making was strictly central and it was very beneficial. Without the city administration, the merger could not have taken place, it was carried out by councilors and officials. At that time, they had a vision that Prague would be a rich and confident city, and I think that succeeded, “said Hana Svatošová, archivist and co-author of the exhibition.
The panels explain the structure and organization of the then municipal administration and also present some personalities, including workers in the field of urban social policy Milady Horáková, who was later sentenced to death by the communists in a fabricated trial.
Visitors to the panel will also learn about building the city’s economic background or expanding the city’s property. The then project of European significance was also mentioned, which was used to build Masaryk’s homes – the Social Homes of the Capital City of Prague in Krč, where the Thomayer University Hospital is now located.
Less successful moments are also outlined, such as the economic and political crisis in the 1930s or the consequences of war and post-war developments.

“The Greater Prague Exhibition is a memory of our predecessor, her efforts to manage Prague comprehensively as a whole is a great inspiration for us,” said Hana Třeštíková (Prague to herself), Councilor for Culture.
