The D10 motorway near Kosmonos in the Mladá Boleslav region is partially passable after the bridge is demolished at night. The builders released both lanes in Prague and the slow lane in Turnov, said Petra Kučerová, a spokeswoman for the regional administration and road maintenance, after 9.00. Demolition work associated with the full closure began on Saturday after 7 p.m. The section between exits 46 to Kosmonosy and 53 to Bakov nad Jizerou was impassable in both directions. The detour led between Kosmonosy and Bakov on second and third class roads.
Traffic on the D10 was limited on Saturday morning, when road workers closed slow lanes first to Prague and then to Turnov. But with the demolition, they had to wait for the complete closure in the evening, because they noticed dangerous swings of the bridge.
The bridge over the D10 to Horní Stakory was in a state of disrepair. After a final inspection of the equipment, they decided that its further reconstruction would no longer be advantageous. Builders have to build a new one, it should be in operation at the end of the year. The costs are around 70 million crowns, compared to the original it will be extended by a bike path.
The closure of the D11 motorway between exit 42 at Libice nad Cidlinou and exit 39 Kluky was also planned for Sunday night. The reason was a diagnostic survey and a load test of a rope bridge. The closure ended before 6.00 and the operation was resumed.
