It was the most anticipated social event since the beginning of the year in Spain. The brand new Marquis de Cubas got married this Saturday April 2, 2022 with Isabelle Junot. In France, it is above all the name of Isabelle Junot that brings back certain memories to observers of crowned heads. Isabelle is one of the daughters of Philippe Junot, the French businessman who rebuilt his life after his marriage to Princess Caroline of Monaco, daughter of Prince Rainier III.
Philippe Junot, son of a French deputy and a mother from a family of Danish industrialists, married Princess Caroline of Monaco, civilly and religiously, in 1978. The divorce was pronounced in 1980. It was not until 1992 for the religious marriage to be annulled by the Vatican. Philippe Juniot married Nina Wendelboe-Larsen in 1988. They had three children, Victoria, Isabelle and Alexis. This marriage ended in divorce. Philippe Junot again became a father in 2005, at the age of 65, of a little Chloé, born of his relationship with the model Helén Wendel.

Wedding of the Marquis and Marquise of Cubas at the Palace of the Marquises of Mirabel in Plasencia
This Saturday, Isabelle Junot married Álvaro Falcó y Chávarri, 4th Marquess of Cubas. Álvaro Falcó obtained the title in June 2021 by confirmation of the Ministry of Justice, successor to his father, Fernando Falcó y Fernández de Córdoba, who died at the age of 81 in October 2020. Even if the titles of nobility are hereditary and transmitted according to precise rules, the transmission and the name of the new holder of the title must be confirmed by order of the Department of Justice.

The marriage of the Marquis and Marquise de Cubas puts an end to a series of tragic events in the Falcó family. Before the death of the 3rd Marquess of Cubas, the groom had already lost his uncle, the Marquess of Griñon, a few months before. In September 2020, the daughter of the Marquis of Griñon, the first cousin of the groom, had lost her husband Jaime Caravajal Hoyos, Marquis of Almodovar del Río at the age of 56.
It is therefore a family diminished by some of its members who found themselves in Plasencia, in the province of Cáceres, in Extremadura. “We decided to get married in Plasencia, in Álvaro’s family home, because it seems very special to us and his parents got married there”, explained Isabelle Junot to Hello ! last November. ” It’s a beautiful place that means a lot to us. The palace is magnificent, the courtyard is amazing and the whole interior is…spectacular”. The family has owned this 15th century building for several centuries.

Traditional wedding dress “with a modern twist” and family tiara
The magazine Hello !who seems to have obtained the exclusivity of the wedding, has already shared several photos taken during the wedding. “The couple said ‘yes’ to each other in the intimate chapel of the palace, which was adorned for the occasion with green vegetation and many wild white flowers, typical of spring”reports Hola!.
The current Marquess of Cubas entered the chapel on the arm of his mother, Marta Chávarri. A few minutes later, Isabelle walked down the aisle to the altar with her father, Philippe Junot. The dress, designed especially for the new Marquise de Cubas, is signed Pronovias. “I have no idea how to define my dress. I think it’s traditional with a modern twist”recently explained the bride.

The silk dress has a square neckline with long sleeves and small shoulder pads. The petticoat has a large volume and is extended by a train of two and a half meters which starts from the waist. On her head, the bride wore one of her husband’s family tiaras.
The guests, hounded by the paparazzi at the entrance to the palace, were also eagerly awaited. Members of the Spanish nobility and aristocracy marched past the entrance. Diez Minutos mentions the presence of Alonso Aznar, son of the former Prime Minister, José María Aznar, of Prince Hubertus de Honhenlohe, an important figure in the Malaga jet-set, accompanied by Simona Gandolfi or Sandra Falcó, Marchioness of Mirabel. The groom’s cousin was accompanied by one of her daughters, Camila Carvajal.
Álvaro Falcó, born in 1983, is the son of the late Marquess of Cubas and his first wife, Marta Chávarri. The latter, daughter of a diplomat and great-granddaughter of the Count of Romanones was 21 years younger than her husband. She will shatter their marriage when photos are published in the press with her lover, Alberto Cortina, a famous businessman married to Alicia Koplowitz, Marquise de Bellavista, a billionaire heiress of the Cysca company.
The Marquis of Cubas will marry in second weddings, in 2003, Esther Koplowitz y Romero de Juseu, Marquise of Casa Peñalver, who is none other than the sister of Alicia, who became the ex-wife of Alberto Cortina after the scandal. This second marriage will also end in divorce in 2009.
While his mother was looking for the light and settling down with her lover, Álvaro would grow very close to his father. Despite everything, Álvaro will always maintain excellent relations with his mother, with whom he will live years later.
Since 2018, Álvaro Falcó shares his life with Isabelle Junot. Both nightlife enthusiasts, Isabelle attends the mix of Alvaro who performs under the stage name of Difalco. The title of Marquise of Cubas was granted in February 1862 by Queen Isabella II to María de la Blanca Fernández de Córdoba, daughter of the 6th Duke of Arión. The name of the marquisate refers to the city of Cubas de la Sagra, about thirty kilometers south of Madrid. When the first Marchioness of Cubas died without descendants in 1917, her great-nephew, Joaquín Fernando Fernández de Córdoba y Osma, inherited the title (2nd), already holder of a multitude of titles, including that of Duke of Arión , the Marquis of Griñon or the Marquis of Berantevilla. It was his grandson, Fernando Falcó, son of his daughter Hilda, who obtained the title of Marquis of Cubas (3rd). The 4th Marquess is since June 18, 2021 Álvaro Falcó Chávarri.
