Courageous Küssnachters are severely punished against FC Zurich
The first women’s team of FC Küssnacht played bravely on April 3, 2022 away in Zurich for over 60 minutes and then lost clearly 6-0 in the end.
Normally a game of 3rd vs 5th would be a top game from a standings perspective, but the reality was different in this case. Even if the Küssnachters presented themselves excellently in the second half of the season and were able to shine with strong highlights, central Switzerland was still playing for the league and in Zurich for the chance of a place in the team of the record champions.
The FCK still tries to sell itself as expensively as possible and to play courageously. However, you have to accept the first goal after eight minutes.
Coach Remo Zwyssig’s team caught on but defensively narrowed the space in a 4-4-2 and faced the Zurich attacks. The home team let the ball run across the full width of the field, but after the initial phase they were no longer able to make any really dangerous shots. The next one came from FCK, when Joelle Meister landed a crossbar after Silja Ulrich had done the preliminary work.
Küssnacht fought
The Küssnachters then gained more self-confidence. The FCZ still had more of the game, but there was also a Küssnachterin in the neck. The guests, for their part, keep trying to launch counterattacks with diagonal balls at the wing players.
However, both teams remained largely without a degree. Küssnacht’s striker Andrea Schuler had the best opportunity when she forced home goalkeeper Noemi Benz to make a save with a long-range shot. A short time later it was half time.
Ice cold shower
After the break, the same picture followed for the time being. Zurich made the game, but Küssnacht held against it anyway. However, during this phase FCK came up with fewer and fewer attacks of their own in order to provide some relief.
This is how the Zurich women were able to get deeper and deeper into half of the guests and increase the pressure by the minute. In the 48th minute, this became too gross and Zurich scored two goals within three minutes and thus made the decision.
After that, Zwyssig brought fresh forces and FCK intensified their offensive efforts to score a consolation goal, but the Zurich team punished the resulting space with ice cold and scored another three times. The result was way too high in the end, especially considering the first half.
