Børkeeiet’s gorgeous double secured Rekdal and Rosenborg points at Aspmyra
BODØ (VG) (Bodø / Glimt – Rosenborg 2–2) Kjetil Rekdals Rosenborg had found the shape in time for the series start, Tobias Børkeeiet (22) found endings we did not know he had. It gave an impressive point away against Bodø / Glimt.
– I had to go far back in the archive to retrieve this. It was a friend who asked Ola Brynhildsen yesterday where his goal was since he had him in fantasy. But he did not have me, so then I thought «fuck either», says two-goal scorer Børkeeiet to VG and continues:
– It is incredibly nice to see that they go online. I do not think you should expect me to be the top scorer, but when I get the opportunity, I get to try.
– I did not see it coming. But only a Rosenborg player scores, so it’s the same for me, Rekdal says to VG about Børkeeiets’ goal.
The midfielder’s rushes after 75 minutes set the results to 2-2 in an electric football match at Aspmyra – despite power failure after a transformer station knelt at Bodø / Glimt’s home track. The big match in the elite series start had long trouble with the TV production and some of the match was never broadcast.
There will thus be few pictures of Tobias Børkeeiet’s great 1-0 scoring from distance. Victor Jensen put the ball back from the 16-meter and Rekdal’s first RBK signing knocked in the lead to the odds-inferior Trøndelag.
It was not at all undeserved at Rosenborg took the lead. After the strenuous run-up under Rekdal, where according to the coach it has been good in training and weak in battle, Rosenborg looked like a football day for long periods on the field where Glimt has not lost since June 24 last year.
In the first half, Rosenborg cut in, fought the home favorites out of the click-click style and created the most chances. Markus Henriksen hit the crossbar and Nikita Haikin denied Victor Jensen twice by saving the Dane’s huge opportunities.
– We were ready to play match when we had to play match. We hit with tactics, hit with match entry and hit with achievements. We should have won, Rekdal believes after a “victory” on VG’s chance statistics (8-7).
Team captain Markus Henriksen (29) says that the player group has had several “rounds” with himself, the coaching team and mental coach Martin Langangergaard in the last week.
– It has made us even closer as a group. We are a bunch of good football players and a very young stable. We must be sure of each other, says the veteran to VG.
With Henriksen in place in the defense, the midfield was vacant for Olaus Skarsem. Trønderen would not have been in Rekdal’s starting line-up if Per Ciljan Skjelbred had not dropped out with the disease. But Skarsem looked like one had planned to stay on the team: He won balls, played smart and pulled up attacks with his glorious drive.
– He was a god. His first round is absolutely fantastic, certifies Rekdal.
After the break, he had to turn Rosenborg into defense mode. Bodø / Glimt adjusted their position on the backs and provided more space for their dreaded wings on both sides: The equalizer came as a result: Brede Moe crossed over to Amahl Pellegrino, who pulled past passer Erlend Dahl Reitan.
Trønderbacken swept into Pellegrino after the Glimt wing had delivered the ball, just within the 16-meter line.
Judge Espen Eskås sentenced him, it was Pellegrino himself. And when Runar Espejord snuck behind the backs of both Henriksen and Renzo Giampaoli and soared in 2-1, the former Tromsø player’s first full hit in the Eliteserien since December 2019, most thought it would still be the favorite winner in Rekdal’s obligatory Rosenborg debut.
– As the match picture was today, where Rosenborg is compact, there is not a flurry of opportunities. So then it’s just to be ready when the opportunity arises, Espejord says to VG.
Børkeeiet must have thought the same thing when Skarsem rolled the ball to him across the post after 75 minutes and crowned his brilliant match with what became a goal-scorer.
The carry had not drained the right foot of power, riveted to direct and lifted 2-2 up in the crossbar behind a chanceless Haikin.
This time also with working TV production. Thus, one can enjoy Børkeeiet’s just third league goal in the senior career also in proper replays: His goals have also been scored against Brøndby against rival FC Copenhagen – plus Sunday’s double at Aspmyra.
– That’s how all teams come here – with a defensive approach. But they get something with it, so kudos to them, Pellegrino says to VG.
PS! Rosenborg has not won in the series opener since 2017. That time against Odd.
