Antwerp Sports Palace: Super Van de Veireman – RadioVisie
A catapulted Peter, a huge purple orb and above all a lot of famous guests. The Great Peter Van de Veire Sportpaleis Show act will shake the Antwerp event temple to its foundations. Numerous fans and artists attended his big thank you party. They sang, danced and partied for almost eight hours. In short: it happened in style.
Presented on Friday 1 April Peter Van de Veire – winner of three RadioVisie Awards in his career – his very last morning show on MNM. After thirteen years he puts an end to the youth channel. Yesterday, Saturday 2 April, he thanked him with a big party in the Sportpaleis. A lot of fans came to wave him goodbye, along with a lot of famous artists. DJ Voltage and 5napback kicked off the evening with a DJ set. Peter Van de Veire also flew in it himself. Literally and figuratively.
In a superman suit—designed the way Howard Stern got it on the MTV show—he was catapulted above the audience and landed on stage. There he was received by colleague Astrid Demeure who helped the show to run smoothly. Silk guides Peter to a huge sphere that he regularly pressed to see what was about to happen. At the first blow, Sam Gooris appeared. His hit ‘Let the grass grow’ was immediately good for quite a bit of ambiance. Then it was the turn of the Antwerp duo Van Echelpoel with ‘Ziet em duun’.
side kicks
The last thirteen years Peter has had a lot of sidekicks by his side. They can’t be missed either. Nasrien Cnops and Julie Van den met Steen recalled a great time together with Steen. Julie clearly hadn’t forgotten that she once had to sit in the studio dressed as Donald Trump for a month.
She once took the famous suit out of her wardrobe especially for this occasion. Nasrien, a big Bon Jovi fan, once went to Bulgaria with a few for MNM to catch a concert. She sang a piece from ‘Bed of Roses’. Eva Daeleman and Lieselot Ooms, the very first sidekicks, had made a film with a heartwarming message for Peter.
Top artists
Peter Van de Veire is of course also known as a Eurovision Song Contest guru. His farewell show could not be complete without a festival winner. The Swedish Loreen, who won in 2012, surprised with her world hit ‘Euphoria’. The audience sang along with all their heart. Peter, a big fan of Loreen, was also impressed.

Peter wasn’t the only one being catapulted into the air. Niels Destadsbader also sought higher spheres. During Regi’s DJ set, the audience saw Niels fly by and sang ‘The world turns for you’ together. Niels then surprised Peter with a reworked and especially catchy version of ‘Conquer Me’.
Gert Verhulst and James Cooke also thanked Peter for the past years. Together with Peter himself, they have a beautiful version of their song ‘Altijd’. Kawtar, Peter’s last sidekicks, were of course present. She together with all the other MNM-s a surprise song.
Even more beautiful people
The audience was presented with many other performances. None other than Metejoor and Lisa, Gers Pardoel and Willy Somers are applied numbers. MNM DJ Robin Keyaert and mom Ingeborg drove in a large chocolate pot together as a gift.
Together with Peter, Tom Waes was presented with ‘Dos Cervezas’ from the hands of Jeroen Meus. To conclude, Peter himself performed his song ‘Dans DJ Dans’ together with Kawtar and Wanne. As icing on the cake, DJ Frank started the afterparty, followed by the DJ duo Ilsen & Verhulst, DJ Voltage and 5napback and Because Het Kan Soundsystem.
