Zurich. SP nominated as candidates for the Zurich government elections.
The SP Canton of Zurich will run for the 2023 government council elections with its previous government councilor Jacqueline Fehr and national councilor Priska Seiler Graf. Seiler Graf is to win back a second seat in the governing council for the Social Democrats.
The nomination of the two candidates was undisputed in advance, other candidates were not available for selection. The delegates approved the party leadership’s request at the meeting on Saturday at Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall in Dachsen, as the SP Canton of Zurich announced on Twitter.
Seiler Graf is to regain the seat for her party that the SP lost when Mario Fehr left the party in June 2021. It is not yet known whether Fehr will stand for re-election.
The 53-year-old Priska Seiler Graf has been a member of the National Council for the SP since 2015 and is a member of the Security Policy Committee and the Audit Committee. Among other things, she served as city councilor of Kloten from 2010 to 2020 and sat on the Zurich cantonal council from 2005 to 2015. She has also been co-president of the SP Canton of Zurich since 2017.
Jacqueline Fehr was elected to the government council in 2015 and has since headed the Directorate of Justice for the Interior.
The Zurich government elections will take place on February 12, 2023.
