The spring of contemporary art has “blossomed” in Vienna – neighboring Austria – Blog
In 2022 there is a great desire for contemporary art and in this spring Vienna “blossoms”, thus becoming a center above all of international interest. Some events have already taken place in March, such as Wicam, the international art and antiques fair, or the Spark Art Fair. Of particular interest is the Festival Foto Wien, which saw the opening of 140 photographic exhibitions in multiple locations, with 300 accompanying events.
The next appointment is Art Austria 2022, in its fifteenth edition. From 5 to 8 May, two marquees will be erected in the main courtyard of the MuseumsQuartier, connected to the MQ Arena 21 and the MQ Ovalhalle. The main entrance to Art Austria is located directly next to the main entrance to the MQ. As many as 45 artists from Austrians will show their works, ranging from classical Modernism to contemporary art. Other information: www.art-austria.info.
Also in 2022 the leitmotiv of the Vienna Gallery Walk will be “transience”. Inspiration will be at the fore on art tours for countless exhibitions and galleries by very diverse artists and artists. For the first time also in connection with music and literature. Everything will take place in different locations, on the days between 12 and 14 May. To find out where and when to consult the site www.galleria.at.
Almost in the same days “Parallel Vienna” will present for the second time, in addition to the well-known art fair days in September, the formula “Parallel editions”. The appointment is from 12 to 15 May. The location was the Atelierhaus of the Academy of Fine Arts, in the sixth district, which offers an exhibition area of over 1,000 square meters. It is a format that focuses on editions, graphics, multiples, small plastic works, objects, sculptures and art books.
A completely new approach is followed, placing artistic publishing at the center of art. The editions are interesting for a particularly large audience, as they attract both art lovers and collectors and are therefore particularly suitable as an entry into the art market. The team of curators will exclusively choose a maximum of forty galleries, spaces for initiatives or artistic projects that present exclusive editions of artists.
