Series now: BR Volleys loses second semi-final game in Frankfurt
The BR Volleys lost the second game of the semi-final series for the German championship against the United Volleys Frankfurt. In the Hessian metropolis, the Berliners showed a mixed performance and deservedly had to admit defeat 2: 3 (22:25, 22:25, 28:26, 25:14, 9:15). After the success of the Berliners in the first game, the series is now 1-1 after wins.
The BR Volleys were dominated by the Hessians for a long time in the first set. In front of 1,100 spectators in the Ballsporthalle Frankfurt, the hosts were up to eight points ahead at times before things got a little tighter towards the end of the set. In the second round, the Berliners were able to take the lead for the first time with 22:21, but then lost concentration and gave this set to the Hessians as well.
In the third half, coach Cedric Enard’s side scored hard and saved three of their opponent’s match points before turning the game around and winning the first set of the night. In the fourth set, the spectators saw a completely different game and the BR Volleys dominated at will. With 25:14 they forced the Frankfurt team into a tie-break. There the momentum tipped again and the home side quickly pulled away. In the end, the United Volleys celebrated a sovereign victory.
So the series is now balanced. The game is played according to the Best of Five mode, and the team that has won three games first also advances to the final. The third game takes place on Wednesday evening in the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin.
