Roelof Pepping wins €2,200 HR at WPTDS Amsterdam
After the Dutch party in the €1,100 Main Event, the €2,200 High Roller was no different. Roelof Pepping eventually took the win at the WPTDS in Amsterdam, while he dealt with Tom Talboom (second and Kees van Brugge (third).
The final table of the €1,100 Main Event at the WPTDS in Amsterdam also featured the opening day of the €2,200 High Roller. In total 164 registrations were made with 23 places paid. At the end of the first day there were only 24 players left, so one more player left the tournament empty-handed on Saturday afternoon.
This dubious honor went to Evan Shaughnessy early in the day, who ran into a full house with top pair. After reaching the money, the next goal for the players was to reach the final table. Alberto Stegeman, Kees Aerts, Micha Hoedemaker, and Marcel Vonk, among others, failed to make it.
Dominique Liebrechts finished in tenth place shortly afterwards, later the last nine players were able to prepare for the nine-player final table.
Roeloef Pepping takes the title at WPTDS Amsterdam
Kees van Brugge got off to a great start to the final table. With ace-king, he was able to combine the pocket kings of Kees Alblas (ninth, €6,363) and the pocket jacks of Simone Andrian (eighth, €6,363) with an ace on the river. Not much later, Mitch Vulperhorst ended up in seventh place for €8,781.
Also Camilla Reventlow (sixth, € 12,631) and Axel Bevers (fifth, € 18,485) left for the rail. In this there are four Dutchmen in the last four and any they run off with the title. Suddenly the heads-up was already a fact, when Tom Talboom knocked out Zhong Chen (third, €39,293) and Kees van Brugge (fourth, €27,139) in one hand.
Talboom hit an eight against Chen’s pocket aces and Van Brugge’s queen-ten suited. Despite this double knockout, Talboom had to start heads-up with a 3:1 deficit. He was unable to make up for this deficit, partly due to a cooler.
on he shoved all in with but that couldn’t beat the from Pepping, who had made runner-runner full house. Talboom had to settle for second place for € 55,010.
Roelof Pepping was crowned the winner of the €2,200 High Roller at the WPTDS Amsterdam, worth €82,308.
