Police charged with the murder of a 19-year-old boy who, according to them, attacked a teacher at the Secondary Vocational School in Prague’s Ohradní Street on Thursday. The teacher succumbed to his injuries. The young man faces 12 to 20 years in prison. The court sent the man into custody on Saturday over fears of the suspect’s escape, and he could also continue the crime.
“The accusation was communicated to a natural person by a police authority in accordance with the provisions of the qualified factual substance of the crime of murder, committed the act, as follows from the course of the preparatory proceedings, the provision on murder intentionally corresponds as a forethought,” said Aleš Cimbala, spokesman for the Prague City Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The spokesman added that the court imposed a custody on the young man today. “As a reason for detention, the court found reasons for escaping and preliminary detention, ie the danger that the accused would flee, would hide in order to avoid criminal prosecution, or the court took into account the fact that the accused faces a heavy sentence or the risk that the accused could repeat himself. commit the crime for which he is being prosecuted, “Cimbala said.
“The preparatory proceedings for the criminal phase, known as the investigation, will now continue,” the spokesman added, adding that the prosecutor’s office would not provide further information at this time.
According to investigators, the young man attacked the teacher with a machete on Thursday before noon on the fourth floor of the school building in Prague 4 in his office. Despite the efforts of the called-in rescuers, the pedagogue succumbed to injuries on the spot. The attacker escaped from the scene, and a police officer subsequently arrested him in Dolní Břežany in the district of Praha-západ. According to the investigators, the presumed motive for the act was a dispute between him and the teacher.
