Czech Railways: Work on the corridor limits the operation of trains from Prague to southern Bohemia
02.04.2022 14:29 | Press Release
From 2 April to 30 June 2022, the closure of the Railway Administration will take place in the section Votice – Sudoměřice u Tábora on the line Prague – České Budějovice. This exclusion required several measures and changes in timetables.
Long-distance trains will replace České dráhy with buses in the Olbramovice – Chotoviny section; instead of regional trains, buses will run in the Benešov u Prahy – Tábor section. After the closure, passengers can look forward to shorter travel times and a smoother ride.
The modernization of the fourth transit corridor in the section between Votice and Sudoměřice near Tábor is heading to the final stage. Due to the construction activities of the Railway Administration, this part of the corridor from Prague to České Budějovice will be closed for three months. The closure will begin on April 2 and last until June 30, 2022. During it, the builders will complete the relocation of the track section to new tracks. The exclusion will affect all trains passing through the upgraded section. Czech Railways will replace them with buses.
Interstate trains, IC trains and express trains (line Ex 7 and R 17)
Interstate trains EC Prague – České Budějovice – Linz and all domestic long-distance trains (IC and R) Prague – Veselí nad Lužnicí – České Budějovice / České Velenice will be replaced by buses in the section Olbramovice – Chotoviny and back (from 23 to 29 May in the section Olbramovice – Tábor and back).
In the direction from Prague to southern Bohemia, an exclusive timetable will apply. From Prague hl.n. most of these trains (with the departure of evening services) will leave about 15 minutes earlier than before. In the opposite direction from southern Bohemia to Prague, the standard timetable will apply, but it will be necessary to take into account that after passing through the excluded section, individual connections may increase the delay by 5 – 15 minutes. Long-distance trains will start, resp. end at the Prague main railway station, in the section Praha hl.n. – Prague-Holešovice and back will not go.
Details are in the exclusive long-distance timetable HERE.
