Turin and Siena together for the Ivory Coast
The Coast to Costa campaign is launched, a crowdfunding for a basketball school for the girls and boys of Grand Bassam
SIENA. “Basketball is the only sport that tends towards the sky. This is why it is a revolution for those who are used to always looking at the ground “. These are the words of Bill Russell, NBA legend of the sixties and seventies, that ideally guided us in the launch of the Coast to Costa project.
This is a crowdfunding campaign promoted by Abel group (non-profit organization founded and chaired by Don Luigi Ciotti in Turin) and by Common Abel (International Cooperation project of the Abele Group in Africa) to bring the sport par excellence of redemption to the Ivory Coast to the children of Grand Bassam. Partner of the project, two Sienese realities: the Mens Sana Basketball Academy and the association Court of Miracles.
The goal is to raise 6 thousand euros to buy materials, set up structures, pay the coaches who will manage, the estate, the first basketball camp open to all Ivorian children and children and give them the opportunity to experience a different competitive spirit compared to what it often forces them only to fight against the shortcomings of life.
The campaign, active on the Gofundme platform since mid-February, has exceeded the 4 thousand euro mark and will close, with a double public event in Siena, Saturday 9 April. It begins at 11, with a press conference at the headquarters of the Autonomous Press Group of Siena in Piazza dell’Abbadia 6, chaired by Giovanna Romanoand to which they will participate Filippo Amari and Emiliano Cottinicreators of the project, Pier Ferrante of the Abele Group e Riccardo Caliani general manager of the Mens Sana Basket Academy.
To follow, atOrto de ‘Pecci (via Porta Giustizia 39), there will be a social lunch. Part of the proceeds will go to Costa a Costa. The cost of lunch is 40 euros, reservations required by 7 April.
