A long lockout on the line from Prague to Tábor begins, the old monorail expires – ČT24 – Czech Television
The old cross over the Heřmaničky and Střezimíř lines is more like a forgotten local than the interstate line, which indicates the capital of the Czech Republic with the South Bohemian regional city and the third largest city in Austria. Trains are gradually turning to one side or the other – as the terrain once allowed in the 19th century – they stop at multi-track stations due to crossing with an oncoming train and control the last mechanical signal. It will all be from the past of the past.
“It is sad. Some dispatchers have spent their entire professional lives here, “remarked Petr Bechyně, a narrator from Heřmaničky. Newly, the dispatchers will be dispatchers and will manage the transport from a distance.
On the contrary, a many-month lockout will become present. Until July 1, passengers from long-distance trains will have to change (in the direction from Prague) in Olbramovice to buses that will take them to Chotovy. Between Prague and Olbramovice, express trains and express trains will run according to a special timetable.
“They will leave Prague 15 minutes earlier to catch up,” said Czech Railways spokesman Lukáš Kubát. For example, the morning express to Linz will leave Prague instead of 6:04 at 5:49, and the next express train to České Budějovice instead of 6:30 at 6:15. Passengers traveling to Zurich, who have a ticket for a sleeping car, will arrive in Olbramovice in a sitting car and only in Chotovy will they board a sleeping car.
In addition, all long-distance trains from southern Bohemia will end (and start) in Prague at the main railway station, so they will not run to Holešovice. Regional trains will replace Czech Railways with a bus along the entire route between Benešov and Tábor.
The long closure is topical because the 18-kilometer route crosses the old line in several places, and it is not yet possible to build where trains still run on the old track. Exclusion will allow it. “The upper will be laid, and then the earthworks and geotechnical works will begin,” said Ondřej Göpfert from the West Railway Administration. When the closure ends, the traffic on the new line will still be limited, from Votic to Červený Újezd there will be single-track traffic, the speed will be limited. Double-track operation will start in September.
The old track should not completely disappear. There is supposed to be a cycle path in part, but they plan to preserve the dormitories near Střezimír and ride them with tourist trainers.
After the completion of the new route, travel between Votice and Sudoměřice will be significantly faster and more comfortable. The driving time between Prague and Tábor will be shortened by up to a quarter of an hour, which will be helped by the straightening and double-tracking of the track by increasing the maximum speed to 160 kilometers per hour. So far, it has been between 70 and 90 kilometers per hour.
In addition, he would not have to stay at one hundred and sixty. “During the implementation, we entered the project and made such modifications that the sets with a tilting box could travel here at a speed of up to 200 kilometers,” announced Ondřej Göpfert.
After the closure, the line from Vršovice in Prague to Tábor will be fully modernized. In addition, the Railway Administration also wants to put the Doubí – Soběslav interchange into operation in the autumn, so that it will be on the new route from Prague to Ševětín.
There will still be an old single-track line between Ševetín and České Budějovice, which should also be relocated in the future. The railway administration assumes that construction should start next year, but it will not be put into operation until the end of the decade.
