34 organizations open doors during Heritage Day | Antwerp
AntwerpOn Sunday 24 April, 34 organizations in Antwerp will open their doors for Heritage Day. The theme this year is Heritage Day makes school!, in Antwerp 53 activities are planned. From 25 to 29 April, various connoisseurs go to schools to tell about their cultural heritage, and classes are welcomed like real VIPs in museums and heritage houses.
Under the motto Heritage Day makes school! Heritage Day 2022 dives into the rich school history of Flanders. A lot of activities are also on the program in Antwerp: in the old Maagdenhuis the public is introduced to the odd jobs and tasks that the orphaned girls have mastered and they are taught how to wash and embroider like in the old days. The most beautiful calligraphy letters can be admired in the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library and everyone can learn more about how the sisters lived together 700 years ago in the Zwartzuster monastery.
Most locations are open on April 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All activities are free, but reservations are available in advance for separate. The full program can be found at www.erfgoeddag.be.
For Heritage Week, aimed at schools, there are still free places for classes to register and participate in the free offer. All students can get acquainted with the heritage of our city. Moreover, this year there are also connoisseurs who go to the classes themselves, such as a beekeeper, archaeologist, storyteller or crossbow archer.
